The House That Jeter Built

Babe Ruth didn't get to play in the new Yankee Stadium. He missed the christening of the ballpark by about 70 years, which is a shame because the old Yankee Stadium's nickname of "The House That Ruth Built" is among my favorite nicknames in all of sports. Yeah "Numbah Two" aka Derek Jeter is a legend, but The House that Jeter Built just doesn't have the same ring to it. Regardless, it's always a riveting experience visiting a baseball mecca. It's even better with friends. Glad I got to catch up with a couple fraternity brothers and a sorority neighbor at the Yanks game.

I have a love-hate relationship with ARod. He's an undeniably phenomenal ballplayer and he started his career with my home team, the Mariners. His career has been marred with drug scandals and excessive monetary contracts, and he doesn't have the best reputation as a celebrity. But he's still one of the most talented players to play in my lifetime and I can respect most of what he does on the field.

I love this shot because I feel it completely embodies the Yankees. You have the gorgeous field, you have the giant screens and the big-name Alex Rodriguez hitting, and you have the classic NYY logo in the front.
